About Microcem
Microcem is a specialist microcement applicator based on the Gold Coast, servicing Brisbane and surrounding areas. We work exclusively with the CEMHER Microne system, applying seamless microcement surfaces to residential and commercial projects. It is the trade we have chosen to master, and every project follows the full CEMHER protocol.
We service the Gold Coast and Brisbane. For larger commercial or interstate projects, get in touch and we can discuss the scope.
All three. We apply microcement for homeowners renovating or building, for builders who need a reliable specialist trade on their program, and for commercial clients such as retail, hospitality, wellness and office fitouts.
We apply CEMHER Microne microcement to floors, walls, ceilings, bathrooms and full wet areas, showers, stairs, kitchen benchtops, splashbacks, vanities, fireplaces, facades, pool surrounds and outdoor pavements. If you have a surface in mind that is not listed, ask us and we will tell you honestly whether microcement suits it.
Every project runs through five stages: consultation, colour sampling, surface preparation, application, and sealing with handover. Before any work starts we hand trowel physical colour and texture samples on board, and you review them in the room, in natural light, against your joinery, stone and tapware. Nothing moves forward until the sample feels right. You can read more about each stage on our about page.
Send us your plans, drawings or photographs through the contact form, or give us a call. We will review the surfaces involved and come back to you with a scope and pricing. For larger projects we can arrange a site visit.
About CEMHER Microne
CEMHER Microne is a high performance, trowel applied microcement that creates seamless, grout free surfaces with a refined modern finish. It can be used on floors, walls, stairs, wet areas, bathrooms, ceilings, benchtops, outdoor areas, pool surrounds and joinery. It offers full waterproofing in every layer, outstanding durability (55 MPa compressive strength), flexibility, stain resistance, anti slip properties, low VOC and an A+ indoor air quality rating.
Microne is an acrylic polyurethane based microcement system. It has higher performance and longevity than conventional cement heavy microcement systems.
Microne is a single component product ready to use directly from the bucket. Microne Plus is a dual component system where a hardening additive is added to double the compressive strength. We generally use Microne Plus for commercial spaces and extreme high traffic areas such as shopping centres and external floors.
The shelf life is 1 year from the date of manufacture.
Waterproofing & Performance
CEMHER Microne is 100% waterproof in every layer, even before the final sealing process. This makes it the only choice for moisture prone areas like bathrooms, kitchens, sinks and externals. Other microcement systems rely solely on sealers that can wear down over time.
Yes. CEMHER Microne is the only microcement system we recommend for wet areas. It is fully waterproof in every layer, offering moisture resistance even before the final sealers are applied. It is engineered to meet AS 3740:2021, the Australian standard for internal wet area waterproofing, and is backed by a 25 year product warranty.
Yes. CEMHER Microne is flexible and highly crack resistant, with superior flexural strength compared to other coating systems available in Australia. The advanced formulation absorbs minor substrate movement without cracking, which is critical in the Australian climate where temperature shifts and substrate expansion are common.
Yes. CEMHER Microne can achieve up to a P5 slip rating, making it suitable for high slip risk areas. When finished with the Tuscan 3 layer base coat system, Microne reaches a P5 slip rating, and with the Medium Top Coat it achieves a solid P4 rating.
Yes. Aquapur70 is our highest performing two part sealer, engineered for maximum stain resistance and durability. With 65% solids content it delivers exceptional surface protection, and has been independently tested to ASTM D1308 standards under aggressive staining conditions.
The surface hardness for CEMHER Microne is over 150 N/mm², and for Microne Plus it is over 180 N/mm², ensuring excellent resistance to wear and abrasion.
Yes. CEMHER Microne is UV resistant and non yellowing.
Yes, both Microne and Microne Plus are suitable for areas where wheeled furniture is used.
Compliance & Standards
Microne complies with UNE EN 13813, AS 4858:2004 and AS 3740:2021. Specific compliance depends on following the correct substrate preparation methods.
Yes. CEMHER Microne meets the requirements of AS 4858:2004 and aligns with AS 3740:2021 for wet areas. It is superior to all other coatings in wet areas because it is waterproof in every layer, achieving complete impermeability.
CEMHER Microne is waterproof in every layer, but its purpose is not to act as a standalone waterproofing membrane. To comply with Australian Building Codes, a compliant acrylic waterproofing membrane must be applied prior to microcement in wet areas. This ensures the system meets AS 3740:2021 and performs as intended.
Health & Environmental
No. Unlike most microcement brands that contain respirable silica, which can spread fine dust particles throughout your property, CEMHER Microne is completely silica free. This significantly reduces health risks for installers and other trades on site.
No. CEMHER Microne is 100% free from PFAS and forever chemicals, making it the safest choice for your home or commercial space.
Yes. CEMHER Microne is a low VOC, water based coating that achieves an A+ indoor air quality rating for healthy indoor environments.
Yes. CEMHER Microne is a water based acrylic system with low VOC emissions and an A+ indoor air quality rating. It is safe for use in homes, commercial spaces, healthcare and hospitality environments.
Yes. CEMHER Microne has a low emission formulation and an A+ air quality rating, making it well suited for homes with children or pets, wellness clinics, day spas and aged care facilities. There are no grout lines to harbour mould or bacteria, and no respirable silica means safer installation.
Substrates & Application
CEMHER Microne can be applied to gyprock and plasterboard, villaboard, fibre cement, rendered surfaces, painted surfaces, MDF, Hebel, porcelain and existing tiles, concrete, and acrylic waterproofing membranes.
Yes. Microne can be applied directly over existing tiles, making it an ideal solution for renovations. The tiles must be secure and not drummy or loose, and the surface must be properly prepared. This includes removing any shine from the tile surface and filling grout lines using Microne Base.
No. These materials must be fully cured before applying microcement. Wait a minimum of 28 days after installing any cementitious substrate, and ensure moisture levels are below 5% before beginning the application.
The full CEMHER Microne system is 3 to 4mm thick. The wall system is approximately 1.5mm thick.
CEMHER Microne should not be directly applied over natural timber that requires expansion, or large open expansion joints. If you have natural timber stairs, flooring or joinery, it is best to remove them back to the original concrete slab or screw and glue fibre cement sheeting overtop first.
Appearance & Finish
Microne creates a smooth, seamless surface with soft tonal variation and a beautiful texture. The finish is modern, minimal and luxurious to touch and walk on. It is perfect for high end, architectural spaces.
No. Microne is completely seamless. There are no grout lines or visible joins, giving the space a clean, continuous look.
Microne has a velvety, stone like texture that is smooth and luxurious underfoot. It is naturally slip resistant without being glossy or harsh.
Microne can be applied smooth with no texture, or highly textured with depth and pitting. Generally walls will have some texture using a stamping technique, while floors are mostly troweled flat and smooth.
A beautiful matte finish with a subtle, velvety sheen. During the initial 7 day curing period, the surface may appear slightly shinier than expected. This is completely normal and will settle to its intended finish as the product fully cures.
Trowel marks, trowel lines, texture, movement, tonal variation and mottling are all part of the character of a hand applied microcement surface. These are not defects. They are what make each surface unique and are inherent to the handcrafted nature of the product.
Warranty & Care
CEMHER provides a 25 year product warranty in accordance with the warranty policy.
After the final sealers are applied, avoid wetting or cleaning the surface for at least 7 days. During this period, refrain from walking on or using the surface and avoid any impact or placing objects on it.
CEMHER Microne fully hardens in 30 days. During the first 14 days, avoid cleaning the surface with any cleaners. Use the surface lightly during the initial 30 days and ensure good airflow for proper drying and hardening.
Clean the surface with pH neutral floor cleaners. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive pads or steam cleaners, which can damage the sealer over time.
