Caring for your
microcement.

CEMHER Microne is a durable, low maintenance surface. A short window of care during curing, and a light routine afterwards, keeps it looking the way we left it for years to come. This is our working journal, written for the homes and projects we install in.

First 7 days

Curing. Stay off the surface, no water, no traffic.

7 to 30 days

Light foot traffic only. Water only cleaning for the first 14 days.

After 30 days

Full hardness reached. Normal use begins.

Annually

Inspect the sealer. Reseal when areas look dull or mark easily.

Chapter 01

The first 30 days.

The cure window is the most important part of the surface's life. Treat it gently here and it will look after itself for years.

First 7 days

  • · Do not wet, wash or clean the surface.
  • · Do not walk on it or place anything on top.
  • · Do not turn on water in showers, basins or baths.
  • · Keep the area free from dust, debris and ongoing trades.

The sealer can look glossy and slightly slick in this window. That is normal. It settles to the matt or satin finish we specified once curing completes. The surface may feel dry to touch well before 7 days, but it is not cured. Using it early permanently compromises stain resistance, adhesion and durability.

7 to 30 days

  • · Light foot traffic is fine after day 7.
  • · Water only for the first 14 days. No cleaning products.
  • · Do not drag furniture, drop heavy items or place concentrated loads.
  • · If trades are still on site, cover with breathable cotton sheeting. Never plastic, it traps moisture.
  • · Keep airflow up in the room to support proper curing.

Full system hardness is reached at around 30 days. From then, normal use begins.

Chapter 02

Daily cleaning.

Simple, gentle, consistent. The right products keep the Aquapur70 sealer performing.

Do
  • Wipe down with a damp cloth or mop and clean water.
  • For deeper cleans, use CEMHER Microcement Cleaner (pH neutral, sealer safe).
  • Vacuum floors regularly to lift grit and sand that can scratch over time.
Do not
  • No bleach, ammonia, chlorine or acid based cleaners.
  • No abrasive sponges, steel wool or scouring pads.
  • No generic bathroom or kitchen sprays. Most are too harsh.
  • No steam cleaners.

Stick to CEMHER branded products. Harsh chemicals damage the sealer and reduce stain resistance over time.

Chapter 03

Protecting the surface.

The Aquapur70 two part sealer outperforms conventional microcement sealers in ASTM testing. The habits below keep that performance honest for the long run.

Furniture
  • ·Felt pads under every leg and contact point.
  • ·Always lift to move. Never drag.
  • ·For heavy pieces, slide on a wool or cotton cloth.
Mats & rugs
  • ·Use entry mats to catch grit before it reaches the floor.
  • ·Avoid rubber backed mats, they can discolour the sealer.
  • ·Use breathable, non staining rug pads instead.
Heat
  • ·No hot pans, hair straighteners or boiling items directly on the surface.
  • ·Use trivets and heat mats on benchtops.
  • ·Cutting board for food prep, same as stone or marble.
Daily use
  • ·Wipe spills promptly. The sooner, the safer.
  • ·Clean acidic and strong substances immediately: lemon, vinegar, curry, wine, makeup, hair dye.
  • ·Do not leave food or chemicals sitting for more than an hour.
Bathrooms
  • ·Keep shampoo, soap and toiletries on a shelf or caddy, not directly on the surface.
  • ·Hang towels on a rail. No wet towels on the floor or benchtop.
  • ·Watch leaching products: hair dye, fake tan, coloured bath products, makeup, dyed clothing.
  • ·Shower drainage and falls must be correct. Standing water should not pool.
Benchtops
  • ·Cutting board for all food prep.
  • ·Wipe down after cooking, especially with oils, vinegar or acidic ingredients.
  • ·Trivets and heat mats under hot pans and dishes.
Outdoor surfaces
  • ·Sweep or blow regularly to clear leaves and organic matter.
  • ·Rinse with water and CEMHER Microcement Cleaner.
  • ·Rinse off pool chemicals (chlorine, salt) regularly. Do not let pool water sit.
  • ·Clean garden soil, mulch and fertiliser promptly.
  • ·Outdoor surfaces may need resealing more often due to weather and exposure.
During build or renovation
  • ·Cover the fully cured surface with breathable blanket and cardboard.
  • ·Remove the cover as soon as surrounding work finishes, the surface needs to breathe.
  • ·No dragging tools, materials or equipment across the surface.
  • ·The microcement is not a work surface or cutting bench.
Chapter 04

Resealing.

Aquapur70 is a durable sealer. Like any sealer, it wears gradually with use and exposure. Resealing is a normal part of microcement ownership, the same as natural stone or polished concrete.

When to reseal

  • · Inspect the surface annually.
  • · If areas look duller or mark more easily, it is time.
  • · High traffic zones such as hallways, kitchen benchtops, exteriors and commercial spaces may need it sooner.

How to reseal

  • · Only use CEMHER Aquapur70. Other brands are not compatible.
  • · Contact us or CEMHER for resealing products and guidance.
  • · We can return to reseal, or an experienced professional can handle larger and more complex surfaces.

Installing fixtures later

  • · Use the right tools and avoid scratching or chipping the sealed surface.
  • · Seal drill holes, cuts and penetrations with a neutral cure silicone (non acidic).
  • · If a fixture is removed later, fill the void with silicone and consider a localised reseal.
